The First State Symphonic Band began in the early 1950s as a DuPont Company employee concert band and incorporated under its current name nearly 30 years later. Now celebrating 45 years, the band has performed for King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden during the 375th anniversary of the Swedish landing on the Christina River, appeared in all three Delaware counties, and honored charter and long-term members in special concerts
